What You Must Know Before Your Breast Augmentation Consultation

Before coming into your consultation, there are a few breast augmentation issues you should think about. Your breast augmentation consultation is very important. First, because it’s the time to get your questions answered about breast implants. Secondly, it’s the surgeon’s opportunity to give you feedback and guidance on achieving the best results for you.

Usually these 2 aims are addressed during the same discussion. The issue that comes up most is the question of breast implant size. It’s essential that your surgeon’s input be heard on this important choice.

Breast Implant Size Factors

Your decision on the size of your breast augmentation must take into account:

- Your body type, including general size and unique characteristics

- Your personal goals for your breast augmentation

- Your lifestyle

Your body type/size is something that surgeon can determine during an examination. Your breast augmentation goals and your lifestyle, however, will be your main contribution to the consultation. In these matters, your plastic surgeon will only know what you tell them. So it’s important that you have thought these things over before coming in to our office.

Your Goals For Your Breast Augmentation

Is your goal to restore some lift? To move up a size or 2? Or do you want a significant gain in breast size? Whatever the goal is, you should be straight on what you want to accomplish and be ready to communicate that to the doctor. As your plastic surgeon, they need to know.

You should be aware that the surgeon might suggest a smaller breast implant size than you had selected. That advice comes from years of experience and knowledge. There a variety of reasons he may make this suggestion during your consultation. One reason could be that the implant size you selected won’t create the visual effect you’re seeking.

Their opinion may also be that your body type won’t properly support the size implant you want. A petite body type, for instance, will not support as large of an implant size as a person with a medium or larger body size. The implant can be inserted, but there is a much greater chance of rippling. That’s something your plastic surgeon should steer you away from in order to give you the best augmentation results possible.

Always keep in mind that a good plastic surgeon seeks the same outcome as you do – a breast augmentation that looks natural and complements your overall appearance, completing your unique, natural beauty.
